Serato DJ Export Tutorial (Crate Hackers v11)

This guide walks you through how to export a crate from Crate Hackers v11 and bring it directly into Serato DJ. Follow the step-by-step process below and check the troubleshooting section if you run into issues.

? Step 1: Locate Your Music

Decide where your music library lives:

  • Local hard drive

  • External drive

  • Dropbox / Google Drive

Make note of this location—you’ll need it later.

? Step 2: Import Your Folders

Inside Crate Hackers:

  • Add your downloads folder, external drive, or other collections.

  • You can add more sources anytime.

  • Once imported, your music library will sync with Crate Hackers.

? Step 3: Choose a Crate

Pick any curated or personal crate.

Example: Wedding Reception Warmup (ordered by BPM and Key for smooth transitions).

Click “Save to My Crates” so you can return to it anytime.

✅ Step 4: Match Your Tracks

  • Select the songs you already own from the recommended list.

  • If you don’t own a track, download it from record pools or streaming partners.

  • Pro tip: Keep BPMs close together for seamless mixes.

? Step 5: Export the Crate

  • At the top of the crate, click Export.

  • Rename if needed (this is how it will appear in Serato).

  • Save as an M3U file (commonly into your Downloads folder).

  • Optional: export as PDF/CSV or create a Spotify backup.

? Step 6: Drag into Serato

  • Open Serato.

  • Drag the M3U file into the left-hand Crates panel.

  • ? Done! You now have a fully mixable crate ready to perform.

? Troubleshooting Tips

  • File path issues / missing tracks → In Serato, go to Files > Relocate and point to your music folder.

  • Duplicate songs → Clean them up in Crate Hackers before exporting.

  • Wrong order → Click the # column in Serato to restore sequence.

  • Unsupported file types → Use MP3, WAV, AIFF, or FLAC. Convert or re-download if needed.

  • Crate doesn’t appear → Make sure you drag into the Crates panel, not the general library.

  • External drives → Plug them in before launching Serato.

  • Missing BPM/Key → Right-click > Analyze Files in Serato.

  • Large crates stalling → Split into smaller crates before exporting.
