DNP means Do Not Play. Add music the client or event wants you to avoid, and Banger Button can warn you about matching names. This feature is marked Beta in 2.7.14.

Create and test your list

  1. Open DNP in the top navigation.
  2. Enter one artist or song entry per line. Keep entries specific and recognizable.
  3. Your edits save automatically. Review the saved list before every event; it stays in place until you change it.
  4. Before performing, test with a known matching track in your selected DJ software and confirm the warning appears.

For VirtualDJ, complete the one-time restart requested by Banger Button to enable warnings when tracks load. History-only detection may happen later.

What the warning does

It alerts you when available track information matches an entry. It does not stop playback or guarantee that every unwanted song will be caught. Keep the client’s list available and check music yourself.

Choose entries carefully

  • Matching is based on text, so short or broad entries can flag unintended songs.
  • An “Artist - Song” entry may also match the artist or title separately. Test it if you only want to avoid one song by that artist.
  • Do not rely on a genre word to exclude an entire genre. The current matching checks names and text rather than reliably classifying the music.
  • Spelling differences, missing tags or unavailable deck information can prevent an expected warning.

If warnings seem wrong

Check the selected DJ software and the track information Banger Button sees. Compare that text with your list, then try a clearer entry. Report both missed warnings and false alarms with one specific example. Avoid changing lists or restarting DJ software during a performance to troubleshoot.

Open the gear menu and choose Report Issue, or contact support. Include the exact DNP entry, the track artist/title, your DJ software and whether the warning was missed or incorrect. Reply to an existing support conversation if you already have one. Never send passwords or reset links.
