In Crate Hackers 12.0.8, Folder flattener copies selected music into a destination folder. It leaves the original source files in place. It is not a duplicate remover or an automatic repair for every DJ-library path.
Before you start: make a backup, choose a new empty destination with enough free space, and start with a small batch. Avoid doing this just before a gig.
Copy a small batch
- Open Tools → Folder flattener.
- Select: choose the source folders that contain the music you want.
- Backup: confirm you have protected the originals.
- Destination: choose a different, empty folder. Avoid a folder inside one of your selected source folders.
- Verify: review the proposed filenames and paths. Check for collisions before continuing.
- Choose Flatten … Files and let the operation finish. Keep drives connected.
- Review successful and failed files, then open a few copied tracks from the destination.
After copying
Add the destination in Library → Music sources if you want to use it. Scanning both the originals and copies can create duplicate entries. Confirm the intended working folder before changing your setup.
Your existing DJ crates may still reference the original files. Test them before any manual move or deletion. Keep your originals and backup until the new workflow is fully verified.
If the operation stops
Already copied files may remain in the destination. Check the result and available space before trying again; do not assume cancellation rolled everything back.
